Jesse H. Wright III, M.D., Ph.D.
Jesse H. Wright, M.D., Ph.D. is a nationally recognized psychiatrist with UofL Physicians - Psychiatry & Depression Center. He is the founding Director of the University of Louisville Depression Center and is a teacher and researcher with the University of Louisville Department of Psychiatry. His first novel, A Stream to Follow, published in April 2022, was described by Reader’s Favorite as “. . . a standout novel in post-WWII fiction that will grip your heart and never truly let go.”. He is also the principal author of eight medical or self-help books, including best-selling texts that are used worldwide for learning the methods of cognitive-behavior therapy. His most recent self-help book, Breaking Free from Depression: Pathways to Wellness, was written with his daughter, Laura McCray, M.D. Dr. Wright’s research has focused on developing and testing digital tools for enhancing psychotherapy and increasing access to effective treatment.Education & Training

Worst mental illness episode (panic attack) of lifetime was adroitly addressed by Dr on call who returned my call asap after hrs.(Schoenbachler) did a good job talking down from the ceiling. During ff appt Dr Wright The matter was a offered 1st and as "main complaint" but not addressed, as I recall. Perhaps other issues were deemed more urgent but panic attack reported "worst experience of my lifetime." Effective handling of my concerns about that matter, IMHO), seemed insufficient. Perhaps Dr. W considered matter to have been already sufficiently addressed by on call as reported to Dr.W via My Chart record. W's session overall a helpful consult perhaps, in part, related to consult being schedule being extended 100% due to a cancelation in Dr.'s schedule. Wish that were that kind of support were availabe for each consult. Dr W did change one med. That actiion might easily have been based entirely on my cataclysmic panic episode or my overall symptoms that I presented . Dr W is very helpful w/ 20 mins but w/ for 40; I feel I need more time to "run my mouth" and to be heard. He extends those considerations very well in 20 mins but I wish I could benefit from his attention for more mins. Thank you for asking. I hope this has elements of the useful effect you are seeking.

I had seen Dr. Wright when I moved back here after living in Atlanta. I needed a psychiatrist and was referred to U of L by my psychiatrist at Emory Hospital. I am unhappy with my current psychiatrist as he I s unable to help with my current psychological needs and know Dr Wright is highly respected in this field. I saw him for the first time on the 7th and he was very thorough and I am very impressed with his knowledge and feel he will be able to address my psychological problems

I tell everyone what excellent care I've gotten at the UofL outpatient depression clinic! Dr. Wright is the best thing to ever come into my life. He's understanding and incredibly compassionate. He's so knowledgeable and meets me where I am emotionally. My progress with him is incredible
