Traveling can be tiring, even more so when crossing state lines and time zones. You may find yourself or the little one in the back seat a little more grumpy or experience excessive yawning after doing chores around the house in the midnight hours to prep for tomorrow.

Catching a nap ahead of this can help counteract the groggy feeling of losing an hour of sleep.

To better adjust to the time change and avoid other effects it may cause to your mood and motor skills consider the following:

  • Expose yourself to light as soon as you wake up. It helps reset your body’s clock.
  • Nap no longer than an hour the day before.
  • Avoid caffeine.
  • Get a good breakfast early the next morning.

Is sleep something you struggle with without a time change? Schedule a sleep evaluation today.

UofL Health offers conveniently located accredited sleep centers where patients can schedule a sleep evaluation. To learn more, visit UofLHealth.org.

Patients may be referred by a doctor or request an evaluation themselves. The Sleep Center’s staff can advise whether a referral is needed for a particular insurance plan.
