Dr. Gerard Rabalais

Acting CEO of UofL Physicians

Before being named acting CEO of UofL Physicians, Dr. Gerard Rabalais served as vice chair of Pediatric Services with UofL Physicians. He is also chair of the UofL Department of Pediatrics, the largest department in the UofL School of Medicine with 200 faculty, 100 residents and fellows, and more than 400 staff.

He has played a key role in the development of UofL Physicians serving on the executive committee of the UofL Physicians Board since its inception.

Dr. Rabalais received his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Orleans, and his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He also has a master’s in health administration from the University of Colorado.

He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Charity Hospital and Medical Center of Louisiana in New Orleans. Dr. Rabalais completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. He joined UofL as a pediatric infectious disease specialist in 1987.
